Al wakrah Stadium qatar WorldCup 2022

Doha / Qatar

Al Wakrah Stadium is part of Qatar’s bid to host the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

The Qatar Supreme Committee has appointed the renowned design architect Zaha Hadid in association with AECOM to deliver the project services as design consultant and construction supervision.

The design is inspired by the traditional pearl fishing boats. The stadium is having a total capacity

45 000 seats for the tournament.

The number of seats will be reduced in the legacy mode to 20 000 spectator seats.

Due to the extreme climate in the Middle East, the stadium will integrate a cooling system with climate-control technology aiming to produce renewable energy.

The site of Al Wakrah is about 10 kilometres away from the capital city of Doha on the Persian Gulf Coast.
